About Bloxx

Bloxx, the enterprise Web security company, offers appliance-based Web, Email and Media filtering solutions for organizations in both the business and public sectors. Established in 1999, Bloxx is a privately-held company with offices in the US, UK, The Netherlands, and Australia. Bloxx has achieved unrivalled sales growth year-on-year to become a leading Web filtering provider to thousands of organizations with an estimated 5 million+ users worldwide. Leading UK investment groups Archangel Investments Ltd and Braveheart Investment Group Plc have invested in Bloxx, and it has been recognized by Deloitte as one of the UK's Top 50 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in its prestigious “Fast 50” on four successive occasions.

The company's success and expansion is a direct result of its patent-pending Tru-View Technology, which analyzes, categorizes and filters Web pages in real time with multi-tiered filtering algorithms. Its cutting-edge intelligence helps organizations proactively manage user access to Web content. Overall, the technology serves to increase productivity, reduce risk and liability and improve network security and use. It is an intuitive solution that is easy to install, manage, and use and dramatically reduces IT management time.

Tru-View Technology: third-generation Web filtering

Developed by Bloxx's research labs, Tru-View Technology improves upon traditional filtering, which only relies on URL databases and keywords. These first and second-generation methods are quickly growing obsolete as the Internet expands and anonymous proxies and other avoidance techniques gain speed. Only Tru-View Technology's ability to scan and analyze the content of Web pages in real time, coupled with an optimized URL database and keyword scoring, keeps pace with these changes. Attempts at accessing blocked URLs can be classified, categorized and tracked based on a company's Acceptable Use Policies.

The Bloxx Tru-View filtering appliance provides further Web threat protection through IM and P2P blocking, File Download Management, and malware blocking (anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing). These features are standard with every unit.

Corporate social responsibility

Bloxx is committed to conducting business in an ethical and socially responsible manner.

The Internet Watch Foundation

Bloxx is a member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).

The IWF is the only recognized organization in the UK operating an internet 'Hotline' for the public and IT professionals to report their inadvertent exposure to potentially illegal content online.

The aim of the IWF is to minimize the availability of potentially illegal internet content, specifically:

  • child sexual abuse images hosted anywhere in the world
  • criminally obscene content hosted in the UK
  • incitement to racial hatred content hosted in the UK

The IWF works in partnership with UK Government departments such as the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to influence initiatives and programmes developed to combat online abuse. This dialogue goes beyond the UK and Europe, to ensure greater awareness of global issues and responsibilities.
