Jim Mather will provide strategic guidance to help the company meet its ambitious growth plans and represent the interests of shareholders and lead investor Archangels.
Jim Mather served as a MSP from 2003 till 2007, when he was appointed Minister for Enterprise, Energy & Tourism, a role he served until he stepped down from front line politics in May 2011. He started his career as a Chartered Accountant, before moving into industry and various IT sales & marketing roles with IBM. Then, with his fellow directors, he successfully built and sold Computers for Business, a Scottish based reseller of leading computer brands.
Jim Mather brings extensive proven experience of strengthening and expanding successful local companies and his unique blend of commercial, sales and financial expertise will complement the skills and experience of the current Bloxx management team.
“Bloxx is an ambitious Scottish and US based company that has developed unique technology which has enabled them to gain a strong foothold in the IT security market currently worth $15 B annually”, said Jim Mather. “It is an extremely interesting time to be joining the Board of Bloxx and I’m looking forward to working with the senior management team to drive forward the company’s ambition to increase its UK market share and support the significant in-roads it is already making in North America and Europe.”
“I’m delighted we have secured Jim Mather as a non-exec, which together with the recent appointment of Graham Twaddle as Chief Technology Officer, adds industry heavyweights to the Bloxx board,” said Ian McNair, Chairman of Bloxx. “Jim’s appointment is a further signal to the market that Bloxx means business and maintains our drive forward with innovation and sales growth. The addition of someone with Jim’s insight and experience in growing successful technology businesses can help us take advantage of future opportunities in the IT security market.”
Archangels’ Chief Executive, John Waddell added, “A key part of our approach to growing successful companies is to find domain experts who can truly add value to act as non-executive directors. Jim is an excellent fit and we look forward to working with him in his new role.”
