Bloxx Releases iOS Browser to Help Organizations Proactively Manage Apple iPads

Bloxx, the innovator in Web and email security, today announced the release of the Bloxx Web Browser for iPads. The browser lets organizations quickly and easily extend the capability of their Bloxx Web Filter or Secure Web Gateway to enforce Web access policies for iPads used off-network.
The Bloxx Browser will filter Web traffic over a Wi-Fi connection when the device is connected to an organization’s network and if the iPad is used off-network, for example at home or connected to a public Wi-Fi network. In addition, if the iPad has 3G connectivity, then access policies will still be enforced with the browser installed.

The explosive growth in Mobile devices such as PCs, tablet computers and smartphones, presents a significant challenge for IT Managers who need to ensure that Web browsing on these devices complies with their organization’s usage policies.
Since the vast majority of these devices were designed for consumers rather than commercial users, standard methods used to filter Web traffic are difficult and complex to implement. Apple iOS devices such as iPads, are particularly difficult to manage since Apple has chosen to not implement an across the board proxy setting. This invariably means that there is no single approach to filtering iOS devices that will be appropriate for every organization.
Availability and Pricing
The Bloxx Web Browser for iPads will be available during May from the Apple Application Store. The Browser supports iOS Versions 5.0 and above. To provide filtering the Browser must be used in conjunction with a Bloxx Web Filter or Secure Web Gateway.
