Instant Messaging, peer-to-peer & File Download Management
Instant Messaging & peer-to-peer blocking
Instant Messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) present significant security risks and simple but effective controls to block these on a per policy basis are integrated into the Bloxx Web Filter.
Examples of some commonly-used IM clients that you can block are:
- AOL IM
- MSN Instant Messenger
- Yahoo
- Google Talk
Examples of some frequently used P2P networks that you can choose to block are:
- BitTorrent
- E-Donkey
- E-Mule
- Kazaa
- Limewire
- Gnutella
You can choose to block or allow all IM and P2P applications or you can customize access to specific types.
File download management
To block potentially dangerous or bandwidth-hungry files from being downloaded by group user or type, the Bloxx Web Filter has File Download Management features so you can easily manage the types of files that can be downloaded.
Some of the file extensions you can selectively block are:
- Executable files
- Audio files
- Video files
- Image files
- Document files
- Archive files
For additional flexibility, you can also create your own customised list of file extensions so you can block specific file extensions and not the entire category.
